What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small amount of data with a unique stamp on it. This data is sent from a website to your browser. It is stored on your hard drive so that the website can recognize your computer.
All sites send cookies to your browser if your browser preferences allow it. Web sites can only read information from cookies stored by themselves and not any cookies saved by other sites. There are two types of cookies – permanent and temporary (session cookies). Permanent cookies are saved as a file on your computer for a longer period. Session cookies are temporarily placed on your computer when you visit a website but get erased when you close down the page. Cookies can not damage your files or increase the risk of viruses on your computer.
You can prevent your browser from storing cookies by taking one of these steps:
To change cookie settings in Internet Explorer 11
