About Sápmi Nature

Lennart Pittja

Sápmi Nature is owned and operated by Lennart Pittja from the Unna Tjerusj Sami community in Gällivare. Lennart has been working with Sami tourism for more than 20 years – both as an entrepreneur and a frontrunner in development of Sami tourism. Lennart has many awards from his former company Vägvisaren-samiska upplevelser/Pathfinderlapland and now Lennart takes the next step by developing and launching Sápmi Nature.

Sápmi Nature’s activities shall not interfere with or destroy the environment for the reindeer or the reindeer herders. Instead, Sápmi Nature help to increase the understanding of reindeer herding by bringing it to life and tell us about it. As well as own, personal reflections about the challenges and problems with being a part of an indigenous people in the minority but also the pride and respect for nature are the foundation of life in Sápmi.

Reindeer herding

Sápmi Nature stands for a tourism that is in small-scale, considerate and informative. Lennart wants Sápmi Nature to be an example of how sustainability can be achieved without depleting natural resources and causing disruption of life in the north. This is possible thanks to the guests who come here!

Sápmi Nature

“- The foundation and main theme in Sápmi Nature is our Sami culture shaped by generations of reindeer herding in this region. Love for the reindeer and nature in which we live is the starting point for the experiences we offer and with a warm hospitality, we want our customers to experience our Sápmi in a safe, pleasant and learning way.”
